I’ve got Trouble and there’s Jori written all over it….
Welcome to What They Wear, a couples take on fashion in SL. We are Jori Watler and Trouble “TJ” Inglewood…
As of this writing, Jori and I are both approaching our two year anniversaries in Second Life to be celebrated in 2010. Jori, is 3 months OLDER than I. She would want me to point out that in RL, it is I who is older. I would also point out in that case that older is also wiser; and, as soon as I do that, I will expect a smack in the head, a flick of the ear, a kick in the shin, or an elbow to the ribs… which is part of HER charm I suppose.
We didn’t meet each other as “newbs” in world… she didn’t have the pleasure of making my acquaintance until November 2008 when I graced her with my presence to purchase a plot of land for my new house. We were instant friends, even though I thought she was kind of bossy and immature. She will tell you that she thought I was a little goofy, which is part of MY charm I suppose.
Our lives took different directions, their own paths, but we travelled parallel, friends. And I’ll admit, her talents in SL, far superior to mine in terms of building and understanding the IT, bailed me out of many messes. The joke became anything I broke, Jori would fix. And so it went, a year later in the fall of 2009, just before the holidays, I was personally a little bruised or broken and there was Jori to fix me. Always there for me, always had been, whether I saw her or not.
Suddenly, I couldn’t help but see her… everywhere. I couldn’t see anything but her, in fact. And it became clear that there was more to this friendship than I ever imagined. Here is where Jori will tell you that she knew all along and just let me do my thing, sow my oats, find my way. Cause, after all, she is THE Jori Watler… and she just knows stuff.
The window on 2009 closed to an opening door in 2010. A plethora of opportunities in front of us, foolish to not take all that we could, and we have. Faced with much adversity, personal challenges individually that tried us as a couple repeatedly. In the end, stronger for having endured. They say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger; but, who are “they?”
We are strong, independently… but far more so together. We are two halves of a whole. Jori, one of the most talented and respected creative geniuses bringing her passion for art and design and real world visions to SL, an amazing designer (alaMood) and photographer… and me, a model, aspiring photographer and humanitarian in SL, owner of The Center for Hope providing counseling and support services to residents in SL as I am a doctoral level therapist in RL. And because of the work we do in SL, the challenges we’ve faced, as well as our personalities and real lives, we are both equally conscious of appearances, trends in gorgeous looks and handsome attire, and putting our best feet forward in everything we do… in some kickass shoes and everything that goes with them.
So, please enjoy our blog and the “he said, she said” perspective on everything fashion for men and women in SL. We think you’ll enjoy the banter between us that has become part of who we are as a couple, still the friends we have always been but with so much love and passion for each other it’s visible in all we do. You’ll get to know us and see for yourself.
