The Growth of a Designer: Traveller Bade & Sartoria

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always been a fan of the Sartoria line of men’s clothing since I was old enough to teleport; but, lately I’ve become an even bigger fan of Sartoria and really felt that Traveller Bade deserved some attention here on the whattheywearsl.com blog, as the new Sartoria line shows tremendous growth from the Sartoria of old. Let me explain…

then-now

Generally, the quality options for men’s clothing have increased over the last 2 years. This isn’t saying a whole lot since I still consider them to be far limited to the women’s options. However, Sartoria has sustained since the early days and I think it’s a reflection on Traveller’s willingness to keep up to date in terms of classic trends in casual, business, and formal wear and change with the times. What I would consider to be early Sartoria, some of which is shown below, dates back to summer months of 2008 if not before. And although the trend and “good looks” were there, the clothes themselves lacked dimension and versatility. What you saw was what you got: the basics: shirt layer, jacket layer, and pants.

Old Sartoria

Of course, prims weren’t quite in the way that they are now… which again reflects a changing with the times. And as that time has gone on, Sartoria has become increasingly competitive in both their casual offerings and their business/formal wear, showing added dimension in prim options and textures that illustrate the care of realism. Even still, historically the Sartoria pants have been short and lacked a prim cuff. Personally, I’m a big fan of prim cuffs. In the real world when I see a guy whose socks are showing, I am tempted to hand him a pocket protector and a piece of tape for his glasses. So, my singular reservation about Sartoria pants has been that my ankles show. As you’ll see illustrated below, the larger photos are the Sartoria pant, whereas in the inset, I’ve paired the shirt and sport coat with similar prim cuffed pants from BalAni. You decide.

Enter Sartoria’s new Line…. And WOW… talk about a change of pace! Amazing versatility, multiple wearing options, layers, and prim cuffs!! I am so impressed with ALL of Traveller Bade’s new Sartoria line that I wore much of it for my modeling portfolio. The textures are amazing, the layers are ideal, I’ve been able to get the pant cuffs over my shoes, and all the prims are mod with really simple edits to customize your look to suit your personality.

Shown above, I opted to layer some of the newest Sartoria with a vest from SEY in brown, Aviator loafers in Mokka from Redgrave, and the La Rue Silver cuff from alaMood. I have to say this is one of my favorite outfits in Second Life… in almost 2 years. To me, Sartoria has always been recognizable… the new line, not your typical Sartoria, simply Sartoria on Steroids. Traveller Bade, Sartoria, a major competitor in men’s fashion in Second Life.
